After 18 months together, Drake Troutman and G.R. Smith have parted ways.

The surprise announcement came at the start of a busy northern swing for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision.

The details:

  • Troutman announced the split on Tuesday, saying "there's no bad blood."
  • G.R. Smith has partnered with Jake Timm to have him carry the Team 22 Inc. banner for seven World of Outlaws events, while the team navigates its options.
  • Troutman abandoned his fifth-place position in World of Outlaws points to wait for his Modified car owner to build a Late Model team.

After a slow start to the beginning of the Huset's High Bank Nationals week, David Gravel and his Big Game Motorsports team rebounded for the mega $300,000 score. 

STILL GOT IT

At 68 years old, Billy Moyer has yet to slow down. The Hall of Famer picked up his 102nd DIRTcar Summer Nationals win and first at Benton Speedway.

DO IT FOR DAD

You never want to look bad in front of your dad, especially when he just got inducted into the Ransomville Speedway Ring of Honor.

Stewart Friesen made sure to make him proud, winning his second straight Super DIRTcar Series race.

TRACKS HELPING TRACKS 

With Coles County Speedway suffering extensive damage from a recent tornado, Charleston Speedway has opened its gates for the Cole County staff to host its Stars, Stripes & Survivors event supporting breast cancer awareness.

  • The Charleston Speedway owners have handed over the keys for the track to the Coles County crew to run the event, which benefits Melissa Shain in her fight with breast cancer.
  • The event will be held over the Fourth of July weekend, featuring Midgets, Modifieds, Crown Vics, and Hornets.

Tri-State (IN) Speedway

•High-banked 1/4-mile dirt track in Haubstadt, IN

•Opened in 1957

•Nicknamed "The Class Track," Tri-State is a popular open wheel track, hosting several Sprint Car and Midget events throughout the year, including an annual stop for the World of Outlaws and the Haubstadt Hustler with the USAC Sprint Cars.
